Step by Step Guide to Building Rental Biz Credit

I've found two really great books about building your business credit and if you're serious about separating your business from your personal credit they'll definitely be worth the investment.  On the other hand...if you're not waiting to spend any extra $$ right now, the information below will be a great way to get started.

The BEST EVER Business Credit Secrets Revealed

How to Get $1000's of Dollars in Business Credit

As your company grows you will want to build credit in your company name so that you can keep your credit clear on the personal side.  Although you’ll have to sign a personal guarantee in almost all cases, this type of credit won’t show up on your personal credit report.  One exception is American Express.  They have a tendency to show up on business AND personal credit.

Here are the first steps.  Most party rental companies will already have this part done.

1.      Establish Business Name

2.      Obtain ein# from the IRS

3.      Establish a corporation

4.      Open bank account in the corporate name

5.      Get a FREE DUNS number from Dunn and Bradstreet

6.      Establish a business phone # (not at home address)  use p/o office, virtual office etc

building business credit for your party rental bizOnce you have the above steps completed, you can start applying for Credit.  What you want to do is open some small accounts and use them (just like starting personal credit with a low limit credit card).  Once you show good usage and payments these companies will report to D&B and Experian.  As you develop a good payment history you’ll be able to get more and more credit, even larger credit lines under your business name only.   You’ll be working to build paydex and intelliscores of over 75.

These Vendors Report to Bureaus & Provide Trade Reference. To obtain a paydex score (credit score) you need 5 trade references. Apply at the vendors listed below.   All five are good companies to start business credit.
